Room For Improvement

In an effort to improve more things for more people on the set, I saw that others were using accessories that required the use of a standard mafer/super clamp. While these clamps are great for many things. They are kind of heavy and bulky. In the past I've spoken about Mini Super Clamps in the past and I have designed a few items to go along with them, like a version of my Camera Holster to go with a Mini Super Clamp.

One area where a Mini Super Clamp can fall short is a ability to use anything with a hex pin. So, I set about designing an adapter that will allow a Mini Super Clamp to use accessories that mount with a standard 5/8"/16mm hex pin.

Two things were key when designing the adapter, it needed to be lightweight and it needed to securely mount so it would not twist in use. To keep it lightweight, it's machined from 6061 aluminum and not a bit of space was wasted to keep it as compact as possible.

The Hex Adapter Mount uses just one screw to attach to the mini clamp, but there is a recess on the bottom that indexes over a 3/8 in screw to prevent unwanted movement and securing it in place.

Using the hex adapter and Mini Super Clamp combo saves around 260g/9oz in total weight over using a standard mafer/super clamp. The overall size of the combo is smaller as well. Saving you room for other items in your cases for those travel jobs.

Both the Hex Adapter and Mini Super Clamps are available on the shop so check them out.

Another area I saw room for improvement was that there are some items out there that are designed to mount to mafer/super clamps. (Like my Anker Power Bank Mounts)  So, what if these could mount to a Mini Super Clamp?

That's where this adapter plate comes into play. This simple adapter plate allows you to mount items that were intended to mount to a standard mafer/super clamp to a Mini Super Clamp to give you more versatility in your setup and further reduce weight.

The adapter plate is also available on the store and will work with other brands of Mini Super Clamps as well. It's made of carbon fiber reinforced PETG with brass threaded inserts.
